At Nirvana Healthcare Services, we understand that optimal mental health is achieved through a comprehensive and multi-pronged approach. Dr. Williams, a doctoral prepared and board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, is highly skilled in prescribing medications to safely and effectively manage and alleviate mental health symptoms.
The journey to mental wellness requires ongoing active participation. While medications can give you a head start in tackling your issues, we emphasize that medications are just one piece of the puzzle. It’s not just about taking the medication—it’s about running the race. Medications alone cannot solve all challenges and we encourage a holistic and collaborative approach to care, to help you achieve your mental health goals.
We work best with individuals who are ready to actively engage in a collaborative partnership on their journey to improved mental health. While we bring extensive expertise in psychiatry, mental health and wellness, we recognize that you are the expert in your own life. Together, through shared decision-making, we will…
By combining our expertise with your self-awareness, we aim to create a path towards lasting mental health and personal transformation.
Taking the first steps toward change can feel overwhelming, and it’s natural to feel some anxiety about your first appointment. To help ease any concerns, we want to let you know what to expect.
Your initial psychiatric appointment will include a comprehensive evaluation. During this session, your provider will review your mental health history, explore current symptoms, and discuss any prior treatments. They will also delve into your medical history, family mental health background, and any medications you’re currently taking. Before prescribing medication, your provider may order lab tests to establish a baseline, rule out underlying medical conditions contributing to your symptoms, and gather additional information.
Your second appointment will be scheduled based on your preference, usually one to two weeks after the first. During this visit, your provider will review and discuss your lab results, present suitable medication options tailored to your symptoms, medical history, and test findings, and provide vitamin supplement recommendations. They will explain the benefits and potential risks of each treatment option and collaborate with you to develop a personalized care plan that fits your needs.
If you wish to explore issues such as past trauma, your provider can integrate therapy into your treatment plan for a more in-depth approach to healing. This appointment is a perfect opportunity to ask questions and address any concerns, ensuring you feel informed and empowered in your care journey.
Subsequent follow-up appointments will focus on monitoring your progress, ensuring your medications are effective and well-tolerated. Adjustments to your medication will be made as needed, and time for therapy will be included at your discretion. Your provider is here to support you every step of the way.
